- Bike to the other side of the island.
Explore the islands’ interior on jungle trails that will lead you to the “other side”. There you will swim and enjoy the uninhabited and natural side of the island. During your adventure you will experience the ancient ritual ceremony of Temazcal. A guide knowledgeable in ancient philosophy will lead you through this Mesoamerican tradition. You will spend the night at the private reserve of Villa Maya. You will sleep on a hammock in a Mayan Cabana. This overnight adventure is pure culture and excitement!
Things to know before you go:
- This destination is a remote private natural reserve without electricity.
- The expedition requires good physical condition and an open mind.
- You will bicycle for 40 Km. and hike on trails for 4 Km.
- Bring a backpack, flash light, towel, bathing suit, change of clothes, (long pants and shirtsleeves), hiking or tennis shoes, hat, sunglasses and suntan lotion.
- Reservations are a must. Capacity is limited.

IMPORTANT: Temazcal is not suitable for people with chronic cardiac conditions, open wounds, recent surgeries, claustrophobia, panic attacks, chronic hyper or hypotension and respiratory problems. Those who have consumed alcohol or have skin conditions may be adversely affected by intense heat.

ITINERARY
10:00 a.m.: Check in and register at the Cozumel Museum on main street
11:00 a.m.: Transportation to the ruins of San Gervasio
12:30 p.m.: Mountain bike ride to Villa Maya
1:00 p.m.: Arrive at Villa Maya & Light lunch
1:30 p.m.: Ceremony of Temazcal
2:30 p.m.: Refreshments & time for relaxation
5:00 p.m.: Dinner
6:30 p.m.: Cultural workshop seated around a bonfire
8:30p.m.: Hot chocolate and dessert
9:00 p.m. Bedtime in a cabaña
6:00 a.m.: Breakfast
6:30 a.m.: Bike to the other side.
8:00 a.m.: Arrive to the island´s “other side” for a swim in the ocean
9:00 a.m.: Snacks and refreshments
9:15 a.m.: Bike back to civilization
11:30 a.m.: Transportation back to downtown Cozumel

- Mayan cabañas with hammocks
- Campfire site “El Tuuch”
